Privacy policy

Last updated 4 November 2026.

Ezawa CPA Inc. ("Ezawa CPA") collects and protects personal information in line with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the CPABC Code of Professional Conduct. This policy explains what I collect, why, and how you can contact me about it.

What I collect

Through this website, only what you choose to send in the discovery call form: your name, contact details and a description of what you need. When you become a client, I collect the information needed to provide the services in your engagement letter, such as tax slips, financial records and identification details required by CRA.

How I use it

To respond to your request, provide the services you engage me for, meet professional and legal obligations, and send reminders about deadlines that affect you. I do not sell or rent personal information, and I do not use it for advertising.

How it is protected

Client documents are exchanged through an encrypted client portal, not email. Files are stored with access controls and multi-factor authentication. Only people who need the information to provide your services can access it.

Service providers

I use trusted providers to run the practice, including website hosting, email, secure file exchange and tax software. They may store information outside British Columbia, and they're bound to protect it.

How long I keep it

Client records are kept for at least six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as CRA requires, then securely destroyed. Discovery call requests that don't lead to an engagement are deleted within 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or withdraw consent, subject to legal and professional requirements. Contact the privacy officer at info@ezawa.ca. If you're not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
